Another two sessions at Sh*tties with a slightly better direction, slightly less wind and a later tide - which helped with hitting the break at the right time. However, on the morning session I struggled to plane on my first run out. Borrowed Jem's FSW 95, let off some downhaul and had a very good session nicely powered up. Blast out past the breaking waves on starboard tack, tack, pick up a set wave and head upwind on port tack. Backside ride as the wave builds, bear away as it peaks and ride DTL. Managed to turn tightly enough on the FSW to reconnect with the wave for the top turn - nothing spectacular, but a first for me.

The afternoon session saw stronger winds again. Rigged 4.7 and stuck with it. Used a larger fin (23cm MFC Goya 211), which looks huge compared with the worn 21cm JP stock fin, but seemed to work well really well on the Rad Wave 69. This was a superb session with some fast runs out through the swell and some more frontside rides on the way in. Started to get the rhythm of bottom and top turns with more of a push off the top. Need to get more forward in the bottom turn and also need to watch the backfoot pressure as I managed to trip on the wave face - not ideal at this location where there are rocks waiting on the inside - the current does tend to keep you off them though.

Came in for a breather and the wind swung offshore and then dropped. One by one the sails dropped into the water and there were some big swims - and some damage to kit as the current took you down into the breakerers at Dumps. There had been a fierce looking black cloud building up over the land when I came in - I missed the swim home by good fortune but it shows that it pays to be cautious when the sky shows a change in the weather pattern.

Definitely 5 stars and a top location to return to in the future.
